Arsenal & Liverpool have price revealed for Canadian striker Jonathan David

Pricetag revealed for Jonathan David

Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool will be made to splash the cash for LOSC Lille’s Canadian starlet Jonathan David if the pair are prepared to clash for his signature.

In a report from French outlet JFooteux, Lille would not entertain a January sale of David but would “remain attentive” to any developments should an offer of €55million be tabled.

For Arsenal, the need for a striker remains paramount at the Emirates under Mikel Arteta, with forward pair Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah both expected to leave the club in the summer on free deals. That would leave Arsenal with just captain and under-fire leading striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Folarin Balogun as their only options in the number 9 role.

Arsenal continues to track David according to the London Evening Standard, with the 21-year-old striker presenting an option that would more than likely be cheaper than Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who the Gunners remain heavily interested in.

Arsenal target a leading light for Canadian football

It is rare that Canadian footballers reach the pinnacle of club football in Europe, with only Owen Hargreaves (yes, he is Canadian-born) putting himself on the lips of fans across the continent after he starred for both Bayern Munich and Manchester United.

But Jonathan David is part of a new breed, co-headlined by Bayern’s Alphonso Davies, as the young duo has played a leading role in Canada’s ascension to the top of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying for Qatar 2022.

David has smashed 11-goals in 17-appearances during the current Ligue 1 season and is justifiably being tracked by some of the biggest clubs in Europe’s top leagues.

Much like Alphonso Davies, Jonathan David is on the cusp of putting his name in lights to a level that continues to put their country on the map.
