Sexual assault rampant in the Premier League
Sexual assault, or perhaps the reporting of sexual assault, is sickeningly seemingly on the up this year, with three players now accused since the beginning of the season.
Benjamin Mendy, of course, is the most high-profile of these, due to stand trial in January for four counts of rape and one count of sexual assualt.
Statement from Cheshire police
“Benjamin Mendy, aged 27, has been charged with four counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.
The charges relate to three complainants over the age of 16 & are alleged to have taken place between Oct 2020 & Aug 2021.”https://t.co/3GLVndSOOe

Meanwhile, Everton were forced to suspend one of their squad, a man in his 30s, due to child sex offences, with a statement on their club website saying:
Everton can confirm it has suspended a First-Team player pending a police investigation. The Club will continue to support the authorities with their inquiries and will not be making any further statement at this time.
Sadly, this was not the last.
Brighton player latest to be accused
In a shocking report, it seems as though now a Brighton star has now been arrested “on suspicion” of sexual assault. The act happened inside Arch nightclub, and the player is now in custody awaiting police custody, report the Mirror.
The act allegedly happened in a nightclub on the seafront in the early hours of Wednesday morning, although the player cannot be named for legal reasons.

In a statement released by the club, Brighton said:
“Brighton and Hove Albion are aware that one of its players is assisting police with the investigation of an alleged offence.
“The matter is subject to a legal process and the club is therefore unable to make further comment at this time.”
