Chelsea set English record following Champions League win over Lille

Chelsea have set an English record after their encounter with French champions Lille in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The Blues would play host to Lille in the first of two Round of 16 Champions League clashes.

Chelsea headed into the game as clear favourites and eventually came away with a pretty comfortable 2-0 win.

Kai Havertz opened the scoring for Chelsea after seven minutes when he headed in a Hakim Ziyech corner.

Chelsea would then eventually double their lead shortly after the hour-mark when Christian Pulisic was slipped in by N’Golo Kante:

Chelsea set English record

Now, following the Lille match it has been revealed that Chelsea have set a record.

That record, as reported below, sees Chelsea become the first English team in either the Champions League or European Cup to win five home games in a row without conceding a goal.

For those interested, those five wins came against Lille, Juventus, Malmo, Zenit and Real Madrid – the latter of which came in the semi-final of last season’s competition.

A very impressive achievement from Tuchel and co.
