The latest images stemming from the training ground of Premier League outfit Chelsea have hinted at an altogether timely series of boosts on the personnel front.
Pensioners march on
Thomas Tuchel’s men were of course back in action on Tuesday night.
After making it three wins from three on the back of the international break courtesy of a 7-0 demolition of Norwich City at the weekend, the Blues welcomed Southampton to Stamford Bridge, for a Carabao Cup 4th-round showdown.
And, when all was said and done in west London, Chelsea managed to keep a fine spell of recent form across all competitions very much alive.
After Kai Havertz’s strike on the stroke of the interval was cancelled out by Che Adams early in the 2nd-half, proceedings in the capital entered a penalty shootout.
And from here, the hosts, for the 2nd round running, held their nerve, to eventually book their spot in the quarter-finals of the League Cup.

Amid an otherwise positive night for Chelsea on Tuesday, however, fans of the Pensioners were also dealt some altogether concerning news.
This came on the personnel front, as Thomas Tuchel confirmed ahead of kick-off that all of Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen and Ruben Loftus-Cheek had been ruled out of proceedings, owing to a range of fitness problems.
The availability of the trio for the club’s next outing, a Premier League showdown with Newcastle United this weekend, was therefore thrown up in the air.
But, as outlined above, on Thursday, a host of positive updates have emerged, courtesy of the latest photos stemming from Chelsea’s training ground.
As showcased below, both Azpilicueta and Christensen were pictured at Cobham this afternoon, alongside N’Golo Kante – rested on Tuesday – and long-term absentee Christian Pulisic:
