Kanye West’s Donda, which followed his recent divorce from Keeping Up With The Kardashians star Kim Kardashian, has now become his 10th no. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. Kanye’s music career now spans 17 years following the release of his debut album, The College Dropout, in 2004. Besides his work as a rapper, Ye has been a celebrated hip hop producer, music video director, music label founder, and fashion designer.
Prior to Donda, Kanye released nine albums that reached no. 1 on Billboard: 2005’s Late Registration, 2007’s Graduation, 2008’s 808s & Heartbreak, 2010’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, 2011’s Watch The Throne (along with Jay-Z), 2013’s Yeezus, 2016’s The Life Of Pablo, 2018’s ye, and 2019’s Jesus Is King. The only album in Kanye’s entire career to not reach no. 1 on Billboard was 2004’s The College Dropout, which peaked at no. 2. Now, Kanye’s adding another successful project to his portfolio.
Kanye’s latest release, Donda, has now reached no. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart (via Billboard). As a result, Ye is now tied with Eminem with 10 consecutive no. 1 albums on Billboard. However, they are still behind Jay-Z, who has released 14 consecutive no. 1 albums throughout his career. Streaming-wise, the most popular songs on Donda are “Come To Life”, “Donda”, “Hurricane”, “Moon”, and “Jail”, to name a few. Despite the recent divorce proceedings, Kim and the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner clan have openly supported Donda before and after its release. Some believe that Kim and her family are just being supportive toward the father of her kids. In turn, Kanye and Kim were accused of publicity stunts as well.
Now, certain Keeping Up With The Kardashians fans have been trying to understand if Kanye and Kim are trying to reach some form of reconciliation that could halt or even end their divorce proceedings. Some fans are still hesitant to believe that Kim wants to go back with Kanye, but her level of support for Donda has been pretty remarkable. Besides sharing posts on social media to promote the album, Kim and her family members attended the Donda listening parties and made that known all over the media. To top it all off, one of the listening parties included an on-stage recreation of Kim and Kanye’s wedding day. As a result, fans think that Kim wouldn’t have recreated such a romantic event, like her wedding day with Kanye, if she was completely over their relationship.
Many longtime viewers of Keeping Up With The Kardashians thought that Kanye’s music career would plummet after his divorce from Kim. Alas, it appears that he is still thriving as a rapper. Kanye did attempt to face Drake head-to-head in the Billboard charts by releasing Donda around the same time as Certified Lover Boy, but Ye has already secured his early no. 1 placement nonetheless.
