Lionel Messi is being proven right about Chelsea’s Mason Mount & Man City star

Lionel Messi made comments regarding both Chelsea’s Mason Mount and Manchester City’s Phil Foden and is now seemingly being proven right.

Messi’s comments on Foden & Mount

The Argentine is of course one of, if not the greatest player to ever grace a football pitch.

As a result, any praise from Messi is obviously a huge feather in any player’s cap.

And, back in March of 2020, Messi would make positive comments on both Chelsea’s Mason Mount and Manchester City’s Phil Foden.

On Mount, Messi stated:

“Having watched him play he has the potential to be on the best.”

On Phil Foden, meanwhile, Messi would say this:

“He will do amazing things in the game. He has huge talent.”

Now, as mentioned above, Messi is seemingly very much being proven right on both fronts.

Firstly, as per football.london citing the CIES Football Observatory algorithm, Mount is one of the most expensive players in Europe’s top five leagues, with the midfielder said to be worth between £76.5m and £102m

Phil Foden, meanwhile, is said to be worth between £141m and £176.4m.

It is not just their market value, though, which is showing that Lionel Messi was right about the pair.

Both Mount and Foden have been nominated for the 2021 Ballon d’Or, a huge achievement for any player, especially ones who are not yet in their prime.

It is also worth remembering that Foden was integral to Man City’s title success last term and played a key role in them reaching the Champions League final.

Mount, on the other hand, won the CL final with Chelsea and provided the assist for the winning goal.

The pair were also heavily featured as England reach their first-ever European Championship final over the summer.
