The Mourinho meltdown begins? Roma boss aims nasty money-based dig at journalist after Inter defeat

AS Roma boss Jose Mourinho was guilty of aiming a finance-based dig at one of the journalists in attendance at his post-Inter Milan press conference this evening.

Mourinho’s men marked their return to action a short time ago.

On the back of a hugely disappointing 1-0 defeat at Bologna last time out, the Giallorossi welcomed champions Inter Milan to the Stadio Olimpico, for a highly anticipated Serie A showdown.

Upon the final whistle sounding in the Italian capital, though, all that the 90 minutes truly went about proving was just how far off Italy’s top sides Roma remain under the watch of Mourinho.

A dominant display on the part of visitors Inter ultimately played out into a comfortable, and altogether deserved 3-0 victory, courtesy of goals from all of Hakan Calhanoglu, Edin Dzeko and Denzel Dumfries:

‘Why we earn more…’

As such, with Roma, on the back of an encouraging opening to the campaign, now in danger of slipping out of the European spots in Serie A, it is safe to say that the Jose Mourinho project is not exactly going according to plan at the club.

In turn, speaking in his post-match press conference this evening, it did not come as too much of a surprise to see the Portuguese tactician begin lashing out.

After one of the journalists in attendance attempted to press Mourinho on this evening’s action, the ex-Chelsea and Manchester United boss refused to answer, before aiming a thinly-veiled dig at the individual in question:

‘Your job is a lot easier than ours which is why we earn a lot more than you.’

Mourinho refuses to take the first question and tells a journalist: “Your job is a lot easier than ours which is why we earn a lot more than you”

From here, ‘Mou’ simply knocked back the efforts of those in attendance to question him, before insisting that:

Mourinho takes no questions and says: “Inter are better than us on a good day. Inter are objectively better than us. This became an extremely difficult match tonight because of absentees. They finished 29 points above us last season. We had 3 big chances, 2 of which came at 0-0”
